What do people mean when they say they’re “finding themselves?” What does it mean to “lose yourself?” I think it’s possible that the people of my generation get those two phrases mixed up. Then again, maybe both of those situations are just cliches. Just fancy, bullshit ways to say that someone has changed. We all have this built up idea of who we are and how we should live when really, I think the point of life is to just be who you want to be in moments of your life. Don’t limit yourself to only being who YOU are. I mean, be yourself but don’t tell yourself exactly what that is supposed to look like and then tell yourself you have lost that image when you change. We are always changing. Maybe at different speeds and in different ways for different reasons, but we are constantly doing it. Call it what you want. Take an existential view on it, and say you’re finding yourself. Excuse your mistakes by saying you lost yourself. Either way, you’re living life, you’re changing who you are, you are becoming more of “yourself” with every decision you make, you thing you do, every day.
